St. Francis - Reuben Roderick Pelletier, 88, passed away on December 25, 2018, at his home. He was born on August 31, 1930. He was the youngest of five children of the late Belone and Christy (Brann) Pelletier.
He graduated from Fort Kent High School, class of 1951. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving four years aboard the U.S. S. Sierra and the U.S. S. Waldron during the Korean War. He was a member of the St. Francis American Legion Post 0180.
Reuben was a forester for Great Northern Company for almost 40 years. After his retirement, he worked with his son, Gordon for two years as a foreman for Cyr Lumber Company at Ross Lake. He loved gardening, hunting, fishing, just being outdoors, and a good story. He was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren. A special thank you to his friend and neighbor, George Dubois, who looked out for him and was always willing to help in any way he could.
He is survived by his three children, Roxann Smith and her husband, Frank, of Presque Isle, Gordon Pelletier and his wife, Shelia of Portage, Steve Pelletier and his wife, Colette of St. John Plantation; his three granddaughters, Blair Pelletier, Haley Smith, and Meagan Pelletier. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Zue (McPherson) Pelletier ( in 2007); his three brothers, Donald, Leonard, and Elmer; and one sister, Bernice (Pelletier) Henderson.
At Reuben's request, there will be no calling hours. A celebration of his life will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 31, 2018, at the St. Paul's Congregational Church in St. Francis, Maine. Spring interment will be held in the St. Paul's Congregational Church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Francis Historical Society, 1074 Main Street, St. Francis, Maine 04774.
