After graduating in 1968 from Van Buren High School, with an unwavering work ethic, Don continued to work on the family farm and to help maintain his household for several years. He worked briefly at Soucy and Dubay Grocer in Van Buren, and Logan Painting with his father-in-law, Armand Boucher, before returning to his family's tree business, H&G Harvesting. From there he worked at JJ Paradis and obtained his Burner Technician certification from Northern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. He enjoyed spending time with his family and dog, playing cards, fishing and ice fishing, cross country skiing, square dancing, ATV riding, watching television and growing Christmas trees. He and his family enjoyed many weekends camping together with two other families when their children were young. He was a quiet man and devoted husband and father, and could always be depended upon to help a neighbor in need. He was a man of many talents and built his home on the Lake Road where he and his family lived for 45 years until they moved to Long Lake upon retirement.
He is predeceased by his parents, Cecile (Levesque) Parent and Hector B. Parent; and siblings Charlene and Marcella; his stepmother Antoinette (Ouellette) Parent; and stepbrothers Alyre Ouellette and Levite Ouellette; and nephew Alex Boucher.
