Presque Isle - Donald G. Cyr 66, passed away September 24, 2019 at the Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. He was born August 31, 1953 in Wallagrass the son of Gilman and Lillian ( Belanger) Cyr.
He married Laura Porter of Houlton on September 7, 1974. He and his family have lived in many places in the US and six countries overseas during his career as a United States Marine in Radio Communications, Primary Marksmanship Instructor, and as a Marine Recruiter. He also worked as a wood scaler, NMTC truck driving instructor, and as a local and long-haul truck driver, having traveled to all the states except Hawaii. He most recently worked for MDOT in the county. Don was a member of the American Legion of Presque Isle, an officer of the Marine Corps League of Caribou, a member of the Wesget Sipu tribe of Fort Kent and a member of the Framework Wesleyan Church in Presque Isle. He loved the Lord Jesus and his heart was to care for others. He thoroughly enjoyed telling stories with his distinct French-Acadian accent. Joking, teasing, and playing with his grandchildren, or any other child in his travels, gave him great joy.
He is survived by his wife Laura of Presque Isle; his mother Lillian (Belanger) Cyr of Fort Kent; two daughters, Kimberly (Timothy) Stokdijk of Beaver Brook Nova Scotia, Holly (Zachary) Cain of Tampa, FL; grandchildren, Nicholas, David, Andrew, and Lillianna Stokdijk of Beaver Brook, Nova Scotia, and Eli Cain of Tampa, FL.; his siblings and their spouses; Donat and Debbie Cyr of Winterville, Deana and Leon Maranda of Fitchburg, MA. Betty Mercier of Bristol, CT. Beatrice Nadeau of Eagle Lake, Steven Cyr of Ashland, Sandra and Mark Dube of Plainville, CT.; many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by beloved father Gilman Cyr; a dear brother in law Marcel Nadeau; and nephew and cherished godson Michael Ouellette.
Relatives and friends may call 11AM Friday September 27, 2019 at Framework Wesleyan Church in Presque Isle where funeral services will be held at 12 noon with Pastor David Goupille officiating. Interment will be at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Caribou. Donations may be made in his memory to the Aroostook House of Comfort P.O. Box 867 Presque Isle or to the Teen Ministry at Framework Church P.O. Box 763 Presque Isle, ME. 04769.
